The “Aliens” in Post-Yugoslav Cinema

Abstract This research explores how the post-Yugoslav film-makers, in particular Nebojša Slijepčević, Goran Dević, and Srđan Keča, investigate dilemma of ethnic identity face cultural division post-conflict societies. The article aims to discuss cinematic representations other conduct a deeper textual analysis film Srbenka (2018), comparison After War (2006) Imported Crows (2004). Also, bridges gap between more conceptual literature on transnational cinema (Stephen Crofts, Steven Rawle, Saša Vojković), nationalism studies (Benedict Anderson, Rogers Brubaker, V.P. (Chip) Gagnon Jr.), as well history (Tara Zahra) empirical providing examples from contemporary cinema. Therefore, demonstrates applying theories different disciplines enrich when investigating otherness.
